Venetian plaster is a wall and/or ceiling finish that makes your walls appear like "real" rock, it's applied with a knife or trowel, Which is then polished to create a smooth surface that creates an illusion making the texture look deeper. When not polished, Venetian plaster has a matte, rough, stony finish to the touch. Unturned Venetian plaster is also very fragile and can be easily damaged.
Venetian plaster can be used to create a highly polished, stone-hard, marble-like, and also wood like finish. Venetian plaster helps you match your walls with a marble look in places where marble isn't easily installed, and on surfaces that would be too expensive to have been carved from actual marble, like curved walls
Venetian plaster can be stained or colored with natural or synthetic dyes. The unique ability to find the "marble" color that you want and apply it too your drywall makes this process inexpensive compared to actual marble. Thanks to the application of a top layer of wax putty, Venetian plaster can also be made waterproof.
Can venetian plaster be used in shower?
Yes, it can be used for showers especially because it is durable against water. It is mold resistant and gives the sheetrock a thin layer of "rock like" protection against scratches and dents, it also makes stains almost invisible against the plaster, so that helps it you were to accidently spill your morning coffee onto the plaster. If for some reason it was to get damaged, it would be easily reparable.
